The comments made by Hanumantha Rao were totally unbecoming of his age, maturity and stature. Being a senior congress man, the Telengana leader’s remarks that shock deaths related to YSR’s tragedy were nothing but a farce, were to say the least, inappropriate and unwarranted. The Congress is now on its back and struggling to retain any vestige of self respect. With statements like these it has become the laughing stock of one and all and it now would be a miracle if it were to last the full 4 years. Unless Delhi intervenes and makes it clear comments of any sort will not be tolerated, the state Congress now runs the risk of self detonating. For every Congresssman and nay every Andhraite it was painful to watch the way VH was sparring with Raghuveera on a national channel, no less. The situation was so painful that Manish Tiwari the AICC spokesperson expressed regret for even sharing the same forum along with VH.

The 5 day nationwide strike of Air India pilots has come to an end. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had intervened in this issue and only after his firm assurance, the pilots relented. Even Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel had requested the pilots to begin the operations. The Air India management has also agreed to withdraw the earlier issued orders to cut the productivity linked incentive. Apologizing to the passengers for the inconvenience caused, the pilots across the country have agreed to immediately get back to the operations.

There is a strong suspicion that the entire “poster-tearing episode” in Khamman was stage managed by one Younis Sultan, who incidentally is a youth congress leader in the district. This post was apparently bestowed upon him by the blessings of Mrs Renuka Choudhary herself. If this poster-tearing episode was done to sabotage Jagan’s image in front of Sonia, then it must be said that it is a classic case of spiting the nose to please the eye. It is now besides the point as to whether this allegation is proved or not. But what is distressing is the fact that the CM of the state has set aside his governance tasks and is busy clarifying to the high command the entire chain of events that led to this infamous episode. So low is the state Congress’s image post YSR’s death that many in the state feel that it is time for the TDP to step in and put some pressure on the Congress to get their act together.

The financial health of AP has come to the limelight once again. The fiscal deficit over the past few years has been very high and it’s directly showing its effect. The state treasury has taken a toll because of irregular handling of finances in the state according to the experts. In the recent orders issued by the government to the various departments, clearance has been given to issue the salary and some other miscellaneous expenditure in those departments. However, this order doesn’t mention anything about issuing of Pension for the month of October. More than 4.5 lakh employees were to be given pension for the month of October. Sources say that it costs Rs.500 crores every month if the pensions are issued to all the ex-employees. And there are no signs of the Pension being issued anytime soon. This is just the beginning of what many fear would be a crisis situation in the state, which directly puts a question mark on the Government schemes.

Congress leaders have all gone into a damage control mode after senior leaders like V Hanumantha Rao fluttered the feathers. The whole day, senior leaders like D Srinivas, Danam Nagendar and other have all been directly attacking and urging VH to show some respect or categorically denying the accusations made by VH. In a desperate attempt to prove that situation is normal in Congress, DS addressed a press conference and urged the media to show some restrain in reporting the situation. He requested the media to avoid sensationalism and understand the bad phase through which Congress is going through after the demise of YSR. Earlier today, hundreds of Congress activists protested against the scathing remarks of VH and shouted slogans against him. It’s high time that CM and the high command take some stern action against all those leaders who are deliberately trying to defame the reputation of the party

These allegations are not provided by opposition parties. These are the allegations to e submitted to INC high command by party leaders in INC who doesnt vote for Jagan as C.M. The authenicity of these allegations are yet to be verified.

There is a marriage of convenience in Delhi. While Manmohan Singh looks into the governance, Sonia Gandhi keeps the field clear for him on a political front, ensuring that Dr. Singh gets a good diagnosis of everything that’s wrong with the Country. While this scenario lends itself well on a national level, the same cannot be said of its efficiency in the state level. So if Mrs. Gandhi were to think that A P can be remote controlled from Delhi, come 2014 she will be in for a rather unpleasant shock. The AICC chief already has her “Yes Coterie” losing no opportunity in stating that Congress won in A P because of the clean image of Sonia Gandhi and Dr. Singh. If only that were entirely true, why one wonders did the Congress not win in MP and Karnataka. The fact remains that Dr YSR mobilized a rag tag team of dissenters and made them a fighting fit force which could capitalize on their own strengths and the opposition weaknesses. The moment that Mrs. Gandhi loses sight of this fact will be the moment when Congress will lose its footing in A P.

The TDP leader N Chandrababu is confident that the Congress party in the state is speeding towards self destruction. As an opposition leader he is maintaining a stoic silence and is busy rearranging and reshuffling posts within the party. Sources close to NTR Bhavan are saying that the TDP think tank is sure of a mid-term election on or before 2012 April. “We can’t rule out mid-term polls since the Congress groups will not hesitate to split the party. It is going to be a major boon for TD as people always want a strong government. It can be assured only by the TD (under the current circumstances)” said a senior TD leader under the condition of anonymity. Delhi should wake up to the fact that this continuous bickering is causing untold damage to the image of the party in the state. It is indeed sad to note that the government is unable to even mount a semblance of a drought relief strategy in place due to the constant infighting over who should be made the next CM.

Jagan’s supporters should realize that burning buses and tearing posters of AICC president Sonia Gandhi are definitely not going to help Jagan become the next CM of the state. Instead by committing these senseless acts the so-called activists are doing more harm than good to Y S Jagan. The young man has rightly condemned all such acts as motivated and had clearly and categorically distanced himself from such behaviour. But the damage might have already been done. Already a section of the Congress party leaders are issuing motherhood statements that “Jagan is not bigger than the party”. True. But the statement begs the question as to when did Jagan say he was bigger than the party? Thanks to misdirected motivation of a few senseless and self proclaimed activists who are behaving like a mob, the efforts of KVP and Y S Jagan might have already been hurt in more ways than they can ever imagine. It is time they get back to the drawing board to reassess their strategy.

As the agitation by Air India’s executive pilots entered the second day, the airlines on Sunday cancelled around 13 morning flights, including six international ones, originating from here.
Seven domestic flights to Kolkata, Lucknow, Srinagar, Raipur, Nagpur, Chennai, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, and six international ones to Dubai, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Singapore and Kabul were cancelled as the pilots of these airlines reported sick.
“As per the contingency plan, we have cancelled flights on those sectors which have low passenger loads,” an Air India official said.

With India insisting on concrete steps against the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks, Pakistan on Saturday said New Delhi should not hold the relationship back on a single issue as it has done what was “required” in the case.
“The question is how do we move beyond this point. The relationship cannot be held or brought to a standstill because of a trial or one investigation,” Pakistan Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir told PTI after meeting his Indian counterpart Nirupama Rao here.
Mr. Bashir described the meeting, which came a day before the crucial talks between the foreign ministers of the two countries, as “useful” that helped in understanding the perspectives of the two parties “more clearly.”

The Telugu Desam’s revamped politburo and state committees are likely to be announced on Sunday with women expected to get a sizeable number of posts.
It is learnt that the party president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, may include four to five new faces in the politburo and its strength might go up from 13 to 18.
Sources said Mr Naidu is keen on providing at least one-third posts to women to groom them for the next Assembly elections and attract women voters.
The TD women leaders like Ms Pratibha Bharathi, Ms N. Rajkumari, Ms Seethakka, Ms Kavitha, Ms Seetaramalaxmi, Ms Swarnakumari, Ms Shakuntala, Ms Rajani Kumari among others are sure to get plum posts.

The Maoists staged a comeback in North Telangana by killing a Congress activist in the Edulapuram village of Karimnagar district. This is the first killing of a political leader this year in this region.
Since the time the Nallamala and the northern Telangana region was sanitised by the police two years ago, this is the first major strike within the state in which a political activist has been shot dead by a Maoist dalam on prowl.
It has now been confirmed that there are three dalams of the CPI Maoists of the Khammam-Karimnagar-Warangal area committee active in the region.
Eight armed Maoist rebels took B. Sammi Reddy of Edulapuram to the outskirts of the village and and shot him dead. Sammi Reddy was a follower of the former MLA of Peddapalli, Mr G. Mukunda Reddy.
A Special Intelligence Branch official said, “The Naxals had left a note saying Sammi Reddy was involved in illegal land purchases.” He added, “there is significant movement of the Naxals in the Karimnagar district. These dalams are very small and can actually be called action teams. The politicians and police should be careful as the Maoists may target them. The Naxals have taken advantage of the peaceful situation here.”
The officials said the incident took place far away from the Chhattisgarh border. An alert has been issued in all the North Telangana districts following the killing. “We have asked all the police units to be on an alert and intensify the combing operations,” said an official.
However, the Karimnagar superintendent of police, Mr Shivshankar Reddy, refused to comment on the Naxal activity in his
district.

The Praja Rajyam is in turmoil again. Participation of some PR leaders in YSR’s memorial meet on Friday has kicked off a furore in the party.
Sources said the party president, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, is angered by the participation of PR leaders in the memorial service without his permission and the growing ties between some PR leaders and the Congress. Even the open support to Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy as Chief Minister has irked the PR boss.
Besides the Nagi Reddy couple — the former MP, Mr Bhuma Nagi Reddy, and the MLA from Banganapalle, Ms Sobha Nagi Reddy — the MLA, Mr Katsani Ramreddy, too paid homage to YSR at the accident site in Pavaralagutta.
What angered the PR leadership was the Nagi Reddy couple’s open support to Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy and their efforts to mobilise crowds for the meeting.
Though Ms Sobha Nagi Reddy has denied rumours of joining the Congress, her actions speak otherwise. PR sources said the couple may quit the party if Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy is appointed the CM or form another group if the party high command refused the top post to Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“Besides Ms Sobha Nagi Reddy, Mr Katsani Ramreddy, the Nirmal MLA, Mr Maheshwar Reddy, and the Nellore (rural) MLA, Mr Sridhar Krishna Reddy, are causing concern,” a senior PR leader said. He added, “The party has taken a serious view of their behaviour.”
Recently, Mr Maheshwar Reddy, kicked off a row by saying that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy had managed his business well and would manage the state well too.

The director general of police, Mr S.S.P. Yadav, is making a desperate last-minute bid to save his post. The state government, which is displeased with his conduct, has reportedly decided to replace him with the senior IPS officer, Mr R.R. Girish Kumar.

Builders in AP are at their wits end on hearing that the central government has gone about passing a regulation which if not adhered to might leave them exposed to a legal possibility of a 3-year jail term. Called the Real Estate Bill, it encompasses just about every facet of the law that the builders earlier violated with impunity. Under the new rule builders will have to register with a regulator and provide details of number and size of plots, layout plan and other facilities before commencing a project. The rule expressly forbids them from taking any advance payment from buyer without a written sale agreement that clearly mentions project timelines, payment and possession date. The law also forbids that the promoter is not at any liberty to cancel the sale deed unilaterally. Any violations in the said norms will make the builder liable to face a 3-yr prison term. Builders in Hyderabad, Nellore and Vijayawada are now in a dilemma as this will cause tremendous strain on their existing projects and they are also sure that they will not have free access to transfer of suspense amounts.

The state government has had enough of love-lorn attackers splaying acid on young girls and women. Going forward section 509 will stipulate that acid attackers be charged with a non-bailable offence which will necessitate that they spend a minimum of 3 years in prison. AN announcement to this affect was made by home minister Sabitha Indira Reddy, who by the way had come under severe criticism from women’s groups that she was not doing enough as a home minister to protect the interests of women. Hitherto, those accused for acid attacks were booked under Section 326 of IPC. But now they will also be covered under Section 509 of IPC. "The government has issued two ordinances," said the home minister, Mrs P. Sabita Indra Reddy, "They will be sent to the Central government for amendments”. The minister justified the amendments stating that “We want to deal firmly against those indulging in attacks on women and ensure deterrent punishment,"

It seemingly takes a lot to disturb Rosaiah. The veteran leader, who became CM in the most unexpected of circumstances says KVP’s attempts to make Jagan as CM will cause him no worries whatsoever. He in fact went a step ahead and added that as long as his administration does not get affected, he does not have any problems even if his MLAs and MPs go ahead and express solidarity with Jagan. This frank and forthright statement has literally ripped the sails out of TDP’s campaign that the present CM is insecure and worried. If anything it was a very relaxed Rosaiah who is seen in press meets these days. He seems to have come to terms with the circumstances that bought him to the chair and like a true karma yogi he is only focusing on what needs to be done as opposed to splitting hairs on endless theoretical possibilities of the “what if” brigade. The TDP leaders are in quandary as they did not expect the new CM to settle down so quickly!
