The state is in a ”sleep” mode as far as prevention and preparedness for swine flu is concerned. Even for a casual observer it is evident that the spike in swine flu deaths if reaching geometric proportions. But our health minister seems to have gone into a comatose state. The callousness of Danam Nagender’s ministry is both inexcusable and pathetic. There has not been a single announcement from the health ministry that has invited the public to participate in the fight against this raging epidemic. Except for announcing Tamiflu procurement the government is doing nothing in terms of organizing more testing centers and sending doctors on a “detection drive” as was done in the states of Maharashtra and Tamilnadu. With the monsoon gaining momentum (the twin cities were lashed by rains yesterday and today) the virus is all set to propagate even faster and will probably reach critical levels of penetration into the public as the real monsoon sets in November and December.
