Nara Chandra Babu Naidu About Nara Rohits

Posted by Shanker Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Former chief minister Chandra Babu Naidu is an excited man these days with his nephew Nara Rohith making his debut in the film with Banam. The usually political savvy Naidu shared his interest about films. film industry and his feelings about Banam in a chit-chat with the media. The film is produced by Seshu Priyanka Chalasani (daughter of C Aswini Dutt) and directed by Chaitanya Dantuluri. Banam is releasing on 16 September. Here are the excerpts
Tell us about Nara Rohith's launch in movies?

I am always closely associated with Telugu film industry When I become a minister, my first portfolio was that of cinematography. Then I married the daughter of most influential film star NTR. My son married the daughter of Bala Krishna. Lots of film heroes campaigned for TDP in the last elections.
Rohit approached me after completing engineering and expressed his willingness to act in movies. He was also trained in USA film school. I told him that his political backdrop will only be useful to enter into films. After that it is his hardwork, sincerity and dedication that makes him stand as a hero. There might be temporary hurdles, but he will overcome with his hardwork. The first person I could remember was C Aswini Dutt. Aswini Dutt is the producer who introduced stars like Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun and Ram Charan Teja. Aswini Dutt agreed to produce a film with Rohith as hero.

Have you seen Banam Movie?

I saw the preview of Banam yesterday. Banam is a very good film with nice message. It is a positive film. The hero in that movie drives away evil forces by abiding to system. Generally, heroes take the situation into their hands bypassing the system. What I liked in the movie is that the hero achieves his goal by sticking to the systems.
Rohith has done well. The new villain also performed well. I am sure that Rohith will deliver row of hits from now. Another interesting point about Banam is that a son of film journalist is directing it.
You always emphasized about movies with message. Do you want Rohith to stick to message films or can he do masala movies as well?

I prefer messages in his movie. But he need hits. He should balance between masala movies and message oriented movies. I wouldn't like to see vulgarity and excessive violence in films.
Why did you prefer new director for Rohith? Why not any big and established director?

The story of the movie has new orientation. Having new directors coming in is good for the film industry.

What is the reason for maintaining low profile for Banam?

I didn't interfere except for asking Aswini Dutt to produce it. Aswini Dutt knows the business well and whatever he does is good for the launch.
