There was an interesting debate on one of the regional channels today evening. The topic was what is the state of readiness in our home ministry in terms of preventing another Mecca Masjid or Gokul chat type attack? The channel in question conducted a surprise check in and around the two affected spots and to its great surprise and much to our horror found that it was easier than ever to leave an unmarked bag in both these public places. Even after two dastardly attacks it looks like our police and security personnel have not learnt any lessons. While on saw a continuously grieving home minister on various TV channels in the past two weeks, there sure was a feeling that the ministry is running on auto pilot. The TV channel’s program tonight only confirmed our worst suspicion. At the closing remarks the anchor observed that various spots in the capital are only living on borrowed time and despite several intelligence reports form Delhi, our home department in Hyderabad is not showing any level of preparedness for an attack.
