The Rosaiah Government has intensified the bogus ration card drive. The actual drive began in June after YSR was sworn in as the CM for the second time in April this year. But it proceeded very cautiously as the deceased CM did not want to disturb the welfare / populist image of the government. But with Tekkali election too behind it, it is reliably learnt that the current CM has asked the officials to accelerate the weeding out process. Over 2294 villages in 104 mandals have now come under the scanner, and it is expected that at least a lac ration cards will be deemed bogus and pulled out of the system. Rosaiah is expecting considerable savings in the process and has asked genuine card holders to come forward and identify the bogus card owners. The TDP, apart from making customary noises is having very little to say on the matter as t had once intensified the demand for the weeding out process.
